Shay Nolan with a nice Trout of 6lb
Shay Nolan, Cormack Daly, John Grace, James Smith, Ken Lowe, Pat McGrath and Keith Madden Decided on a visit to Melview Fishing Lodge in Longford. The weather for them was not the best and the lads had to brave some very cold conditions and very high water levels. We knew from the start it was going to be difficult due to the water temperatures still remaining very cold. All of the pike caught were males with the largest being around 11lb, however there was a bonus fish for Shay Nolan in the way of a nice Trout of 6lb which was carefully released.Kevin said, the lads worked hard and tried various different methods to tempt the big one’s but it wasn’t to be due to the amount of cold water that has entered the system over the past couple of weeks. I think once the levels start to go down and the temperatures improve I’m sure we will start to see some nice fish being caught. Next week we will report on another group coming to try and tempt one of the big ones. Anglers are reminded that if they catch a trout during the closed season to return it unharmed as soon as possible
